FAST & EXHILARATING BOAT TRIP ON THE TAGUS
A private speedboat on the Tagus River — just your group, a dedicated skipper, and the full width of one of Europe's great rivers at your disposal. The 90-minute trip takes you past the Belem Tower, under the 25 de Abril Bridge and out towards the open estuary. The skipper opens it up on the straight sections and the wind, spray and speed make it genuinely exhilarating — a proper adventure rather than a scenic cruise.
The speedboat is the more intense, more physical alternative to the yacht cruise. Where the yacht is about relaxation, open bar and sunset views, the speedboat is about adrenaline, wind in your face and the actual physical sensation of being on fast water. For stag groups who want something active on the water — rather than sitting on a deck with a cold beer — this is the right choice.
The Tagus is extraordinary from a speedboat: the city looks completely different, the bridges are massive up close, and the light on the water in the afternoon is spectacular. Drinks and snacks can be brought on board (the skipper has a cooler) though most of the trip is spent holding on rather than drinking. Life jackets and all safety equipment are included. The skipper is a proper professional with years of experience on the river.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY FEELS LIKE
The speedboat departs from a marina in central Lisbon — no long transfer to a remote port. Check in with the skipper, put life jackets on, board the boat. The first 10 minutes are smooth-water navigation out to the main channel of the Tagus where the skipper opens it up. The acceleration is genuinely impressive — the boat lifts onto plane, the wind hits, and the city blurs past the sides.
The route covers the iconic Tagus landmarks: past the Belem Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries, under the 25 de Abril Bridge (which is enormous and genuinely impressive from directly below), out into the open estuary where the river meets the Atlantic. The skipper slows down at key landmarks for photos and opens it back up on the straights. The combination of scenic and fast is exactly the right balance for 90 minutes.
The speedboat finishes back at the same marina. Most groups head directly to a traditional Portuguese dinner or a bar crawl afterwards — the adrenaline and sea air combine to make everyone starving. For hen or more relaxed groups who prefer comfort and drinks over speed, the yacht cruise is the better choice. Tell us what your group wants and we'll recommend.
When the skipper opened it up under the bridge it was one of the most exhilarating things I've ever done. Spray everywhere, enormous grin, the whole group screaming. Absolutely brilliant.
FOR SMALL GROUPS WHO WANT AN ADRENALINE HIT
The speedboat is specifically for stag groups or adventurous hen groups who want an adrenaline hit rather than a relaxed scenic cruise. It's faster, more physical, more exciting than the yacht — and shorter at 90 minutes. Perfect for groups of 6–12 who want an active morning or afternoon before the evening out.
For larger groups (15+) the yacht works better — the speedboat physically can't accommodate big numbers safely. For mixed-energy groups where some people want speed and others want to sunbathe with prosecco, the yacht cruise is the unanimous choice. For groups specifically seeking adrenaline and don't mind cramped conditions, the speedboat wins every time.
Minimum group size is 6 passengers, maximum is 12 on our standard vessel. For larger stag groups we can arrange two speedboats running in parallel — the competitive racing between boats adds to the experience. Charter duration is 90 minutes standard. Extensions possible on request.
REAL REVIEWS FROM REAL GROUPS
Over 500 groups have booked through Fun in Portugal since 2008. These are what they say about speedboat lisbon specifically.
The moment the skipper opened up the engine under the bridge we all lost our minds. Spray, speed, noise — it was incredible. The views of the city from the water are unlike anything you see from land. Genuine highlight.
Six of us on a private speedboat on the Tagus. We brought prosecco. The skipper took us past the Belem Tower and under the bridge at full speed. Perfect 90 minutes. Genuinely felt like we owned the river.
Did the speedboat in the morning and the bar crawl that night. The speedboat was one of the best things I've ever done on a stag. Fast, wild and the city looks extraordinary from out on the water.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
The speedboat comfortably carries 6–12 passengers plus the skipper. For larger groups we can arrange two speedboats running in parallel — the race between boats adds to the experience. For groups under 6 we can still run the charter; for mixed groups over 15 the yacht is better.
The skipper cruises at sightseeing speed around landmarks and opens it up on the open stretches of the Tagus. Top speed is around 40 knots which is genuinely fast on the water. The combination of speed and proximity to the waterline makes it feel much faster than it is.
Yes — there's an onboard cooler for drinks and light snacks. The skipper will advise on the best moments to relax and drink versus hold on. Most groups bring beer, prosecco or water. Nothing too breakable — there's spray.
The speedboat is faster, smaller (6–12 people), more physically exhilarating and 90 minutes. The yacht cruise is larger (up to 30 people), includes a full open bar and is a relaxed 3-hour scenic experience. Different trips for different groups.
The Tagus is sheltered so weather problems are rare. If conditions are genuinely unsafe we reschedule or refund. The skipper has final say on whether the trip runs. Lisbon has 290+ sunny days a year so bad weather is the exception.
