Port wine tastings, Douro River cruises, the best-value nightlife in Portugal and clubs that stay open until 6am. Cheaper than Lisbon, more atmospheric than Prague. Porto is the UK's newest stag capital — and the savviest groups have been booking it for years.
Porto has rapidly become one of Europe's most exciting stag do destinations. It's cheaper than Lisbon, more atmospheric than Prague, and has one thing no other European city can match: the Douro River, port wine cellars dating back to the 1600s, and a compact old town where everything is a five-minute walk from everything else. UK flights run daily from London, Manchester, Birmingham and Dublin, and the city is small enough that your whole group can experience it without ever needing a taxi.
The Porto stag do scene centres on three legendary neighbourhoods — Ribeira (the UNESCO riverside district), Cais de Gaia (the port wine cellars across the river), and Galerias de Paris (Porto's most famous bar street). Our private Porto bar crawl covers the best of all three in one evening with a local guide, welcome shots at every venue, and skip-the-queue entry to Porto's top late-night clubs. Unlike Lisbon where clubs close around 4am, Porto's best venues run until 6am — the longest club nights in Portugal.
The flagship Porto stag activity is the port wine tasting in one of the historic cellars — Taylor's, Sandeman, Graham's or Kopke. Your group gets a private tour and guided tasting of 5-6 different ports (ruby, tawny, vintage, white) in a cellar where wine has been aged for centuries. Combined with a Douro River cruise and a night out in Ribeira, you have a Porto stag weekend that delivers things Lisbon simply can't offer. For the nightlife finale, our private strip club session and party bus pickup give the groom the full send-off.
Porto is around 20-30% cheaper than Lisbon for everything — beer, food, hotels, taxis, activities. A stag weekend that costs €200 per person in Lisbon runs €150 per person in Porto for equivalent quality. Port wine is cheaper here than anywhere else in the world (obviously). Dinner for a group of 14 with wine runs around €25 per head. The savings mean your group can either cut costs or upgrade everything — more drinks, better hotels, a bigger final night. Compare that to Prague or Amsterdam and Porto wins on every metric that actually matters.
Since 2008 we've organised stag weekends for UK, Irish and French groups in both Lisbon and Porto. We're based in Portugal with local contacts across both cities — we know every cellar, every venue and every doorman personally. Quotes come back within 4 hours, prices are per-person with zero booking fees, and every detail from airport pickup to Sunday brunch is handled through one WhatsApp contact. Looking at Lisbon or the Algarve instead? We organise stag dos across all three destinations. Send us your dates and group size for a full Porto stag do quote.
All stag activities fully private to your group. Every activity page has detailed info, photos and pricing.
Booked Porto instead of Lisbon and it was the best stag decision we made. The port wine tasting was absolutely spectacular — cellars straight out of a Harry Potter film. Clubs open until 6am means the night actually lasts. Cheaper than expected too.
Douro cruise at sunset, port tasting in the afternoon, Ribeira bar crawl at night. Three different activities, three completely different experiences, all spectacular. Fun in Portugal handled everything perfectly. Would pick Porto over Lisbon next time.
The value is unreal. We did the exact same things we would have done in Lisbon at about 25% less. The francesinha (Porto's sandwich) is the greatest hangover food ever invented. Highly recommend for groups who want something a bit different.
Yes — Porto is approximately 20-30% cheaper than Lisbon for everything: beer, food, hotels, taxis and activities. A Lisbon stag weekend at €200 per person runs around €150 per person in Porto for equivalent quality. Port wine is obviously cheaper here than anywhere else in the world.
Direct flights run daily from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Dublin and several other UK cities. Flight time is 2.5 hours. Porto airport is a 20-minute taxi from the city centre.
Yes — plenty of groups do the Porto-Lisbon combination across a 4-5 day trip. Porto is a 3-hour train from Lisbon (€30 per person) and the two cities complement each other perfectly. Tell us your dates and we'll build the full multi-city itinerary.
Porto's best late-night clubs run until 6am — the longest of any Portuguese city. This is genuinely useful for stag groups who want to experience the nightlife fully rather than being forced out at 3am.
Different rather than better. Lisbon has more variety and bigger clubs. Porto has more atmospheric bars, longer nights and a more local feel. Both are spectacular. We help stag groups choose based on what they want — ask when enquiring and we'll guide you.
