THE ABSURD AND BRILLIANT BEER BIKE TOUR
A 15-seat pedal-powered party bike rolling through the streets of Lisbon with beer on tap the entire time. You pedal together, the guide steers, the music plays through the on-board sound system, and the locals stop and watch. It sounds absurd on paper and absolutely is in practice — and the Pedal Pub through Bairro Alto and along the Lisbon waterfront is consistently one of the best memories of the entire weekend.
The pedal pub is a firm favourite on both stag weekends in Lisbon and hen parties. Stag groups love the combination of beer, banter and public spectacle. Hen groups love the photos, the music and the sheer ridiculousness of the whole thing. Groups consistently list it as the single most unexpectedly brilliant activity of the weekend — nobody thinks a pedal pub will be the highlight until they've done one.
The route takes you through Lisbon's best neighbourhoods — Bairro Alto, Chiado, Cais do Sodré, the waterfront — with a break for beer at a proper bar midway through. The on-board bar is stocked with draught beer throughout and the guide keeps the music pumping and the energy high. Up to 15 people fit comfortably. Everyone pedals (or pretends to). Nobody cares about the exercise because the beer is cold and the city is beautiful.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY FEELS LIKE
The pedal pub starts at 11am, 2pm or 5pm from a meeting point in central Lisbon. The group arrives, gets onto the bike, the guide introduces the route and safety basics, and then you set off. The first few minutes are genuinely uncoordinated — pedalling rhythm is something a group has to find together — but by the time you reach Bairro Alto the bike is moving smoothly and the beer is flowing.
The route takes around 90 minutes with a mid-point bar stop for proper toilet break and drinks top-up. You go through Bairro Alto's bar district during the day (completely different atmosphere from the night version), past the famous viewpoints of Chiado, along the Cais do Sodré waterfront, and back through the main squares. The reaction from locals and tourists walking past is half the fun — phones come out everywhere.
Most groups pair the pedal pub with an afternoon-into-evening format. Start the pedal pub at 2pm, finish at 3:30pm, transition to a cocktail workshop or wine tasting, then dinner, then bar crawl. The pedal pub is the perfect afternoon energy injection that carries through into the evening.
We went past a group of businessmen having a very serious outdoor meeting. The look on their faces as 15 of us on a pedal pub went past singing was absolutely priceless. Best activity of the whole stag.
A STAG & HEN FAVOURITE
The pedal pub works for almost any stag group or hen group. It's social, it's photogenic, it's low-physical-effort despite the pedalling, and it produces the kind of shared experience that a bar stop simply doesn't.
Mixed-age groups find the pedal pub particularly good — everyone can participate regardless of fitness or drinking preference. Non-drinkers are welcome with water or soft drinks on board. The bride or groom can be seated at the front of the bike (the photogenic position) with a decorated seat or banner.
Maximum 15 people per bike. For larger groups we can arrange two bikes running in convoy through the same route. The guide handles the steering and route so the group just focuses on pedalling and drinking.
REAL REVIEWS FROM REAL GROUPS
Over 5,000 groups have booked through Fun in Portugal since 2008. These are what they say about pedal pub lisbon specifically.
We sang at every red light. The locals were either laughing or completely unimpressed. The guide was brilliant — knew exactly where to go and kept the energy up the whole time. Genuinely hilarious.
The beer bike through Bairro Alto was the funniest 90 minutes of the whole hen weekend. Cold beer, great music, beautiful city, everyone cycling together — it was chaotic and perfect in equal measure.
The groom claimed he was doing most of the pedalling. He wasn't. The guide confirmed it. A perfect hour and a half before dinner — everyone was buzzing and in the best mood for the evening out.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
Everyone pedals but it's gentle and social rather than a workout. The guide steers and manages speed. Nobody has ever struggled — even after three beers.
Maximum 15 people per bike. For smaller groups the ride still works great — more room per person, no less fun. Larger groups can book two bikes in convoy.
