OUTDOOR PAINTBALL ON A PROPER BATTLEFIELD
Outdoor paintball on a proper wooded battlefield — full combat gear, 200 paintballs per player, multiple game modes and a dedicated referee running the session throughout. Paintball is the original competitive stag activity: fast, physical, tactically interesting and absolutely brutal if you get caught in the open. The groom always gets targeted first. Always.
Paintball is one of the most-booked outdoor activities on a stag do in Lisbon. Unlike indoor activities, it delivers the combination of adrenaline, fresh air and physical exertion that a Saturday afternoon stag genuinely benefits from — everyone arrives at the evening meal completely ravenous and with stories to tell. Most groups combine it with an evening bar crawl or karting later in the day.
The battlefield is in a wooded area 30 minutes outside Lisbon with multiple terrain features — bunkers, tunnels, open ground, tree cover. Not a car park with a few inflatable obstacles. The session runs across multiple game modes — capture the flag, team elimination, VIP protection where one player gets targeted — so it stays interesting across the full 2 hours. The referee keeps pace up, manages safety, and ensures the groom has been comprehensively defeated by the end.

WHAT IT ACTUALLY FEELS LIKE
The session runs 2 to 3 hours including setup, play and cleanup. Arrival at the battlefield, safety briefing with the referee, kit distribution (overalls, mask, gloves, marker), a test-fire to make sure everyone's gun is working. Then into the first game. Each game mode lasts around 15 minutes giving the group time to recover, strategise and absolutely blame each other between rounds.
The game modes are varied: capture the flag for tactical teamwork, team elimination for pure competitive pressure, VIP protection where one person (the groom, obviously) must be kept alive while the other team hunts them, king of the hill for control of a key point. The referee adjusts modes to suit the group's energy. Larger groups split into 2 or 3 teams with rolling games so everyone plays continuously.
200 paintballs sounds like a lot but in a competitive 2-hour session with multiple games, most players run through them. Extra packs of 100 paintballs are available to buy on the day if the group wants more ammunition. After the session there's usually 30 minutes of cleanup, photos, trophy presentations and a drink at the battlefield bar before transferring back to Lisbon. Ask us about combined packages with bar crawl in the evening.
Six of us decided to hunt the groom exclusively for the entire session. He didn't score a single point but he definitely has the most bruises. The referee was excellent and the battlefield was proper — not just a car park. Genuinely one of the best afternoons of the whole weekend.
BUILT FOR STAG GROUPS WHO WANT A PROPER SESSION
Paintball is the go-to outdoor afternoon activity for stag groups in Lisbon. Works for any fitness level and any previous experience — the referee manages the intensity and nobody gets left behind. Competitive groups love the game modes. More relaxed groups love the inevitable slapstick of watching the best man face-plant while running for cover.
For hen parties paintball is less common but absolutely available — we've organised it for bold hen groups who want something genuinely physical rather than the standard spa-and-cocktails format. For mixed stag-hen joint celebrations (which we do occasionally) paintball is a great equaliser.
Minimum group size is 8 players, maximum is around 30. Larger groups of 20+ get split into balanced teams with rolling games. Most groups combine paintball with karting in the morning (same general area outside Lisbon) or a Portuguese dinner afterwards to refuel before the evening out.
REAL REVIEWS FROM REAL GROUPS
Over 500 groups have booked through Fun in Portugal since 2008. These are what they say about paintball lisbon specifically.
We all agreed to target the groom exclusively. It was mean but incredible. He's fine. The battlefield was great — proper wooded terrain, real cover, actual tactics involved. Much better than I expected.
Paintball then bar crawl — the perfect stag Saturday. Arrived at the bar crawl with war stories to tell and matching bruises. The referee ran the session brilliantly, kept it moving and made sure everyone actually had fun.
15 lads in a forest shooting each other. It was exactly as good as it sounds. The VIP protection game mode was hilarious — the groom had to be kept alive, which obviously nobody cared about. 10/10.

FREQUENTLY ASKED
For most players, 200 is plenty for a 2-hour session across multiple game modes. Extra packs of 100 paintballs are available to buy on the day if you want more ammunition. Competitive groups who shoot aggressively sometimes buy an extra pack per player.
Comfortable clothing you don't mind getting dirty — the overalls go on top. Long sleeves and long trousers are recommended underneath. Trainers or boots for the footwear. Paintball stings when it hits exposed skin so covered arms and legs make a big difference.
The outdoor battlefield is approximately 30 minutes from central Lisbon by taxi or Uber. We provide full transfer guidance with your booking and can arrange private group transport on request. Most groups share Ubers or taxis to make the logistics simple.
We need at least 8 players for a proper multi-team session. The absolute ideal group size is 12–20. Larger groups of up to 30 are welcome — we split into balanced teams and run rolling games so everyone plays continuously.
Yes — paintball pairs brilliantly with karting (same general area outside Lisbon, we can book both in one day), a Portuguese dinner afterwards, or a bar crawl in the evening. We handle the timing.
COMBINE WITH THESE
